Peer Review and Editorial Process
Articles submitted to PUPJST go through a thorough peer review process, and the journals
follow COPE guidelines for reviewers.
Initial Screening:
• The managing editor checks the submitted manuscripts for an initial editorial review to
check for compliance with the journal’s guidelines, originality, and ethical standards.
• Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope or quality standards may be desk
rejected without external review.
Assignment to Reviewers:
• Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two expert reviewers in
the relevant field.
• The journal maintains a double-blind review policy, ensuring that neither authors nor
reviewers know each other’s identities.
Review and Evaluation:
• Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, scientific rigor, clarity,
methodology, ethical compliance, and significance of the findings.
• Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommendations, suggesting acceptance,
revision, or rejection.
Author Revisions:
• Authors receive reviewer feedback and are required to submit a revised manuscript
addressing all comments and concerns.
• An explanation from the author may be required to explain how the revisions were
addressed.
Copyediting and Proofreading
• Once a manuscript is accepted, it undergoes copyediting to refine language, grammar,
clarity, and formatting.
• The editorial team ensures that technical and scientific terms are clear and consistent.
Proofreading and Galley Proof
• After copyediting, the manuscript is sent for proofreading to identify and correct any
typographical, grammatical, or formatting errors.
• A galley proof (final formatted version) is prepared and sent to the corresponding author
for final review.
• Authors must return the proof with approval or request minor corrections within the
specified timeframe.
Publication
• Once approved, the article is finalized for publication.
• Accepted articles undergo final formatting and indexing before official publication.
• The article is published online and archived for long-term access.
