  • Rosario A. Garcellano, Philippine Daily Inquirer

    Is now engaged in a mentoring program at the Philippine Daily Inquirer after retiring as opinion editor in 2018. She also writes commentary for the Opinion section as well as articles for other sections of the newspaper. Previously, she was associate editor for readership apart from senior editor at the News Desk. She was a fellow of the John S. Knight Program for Professional Journalists at Stanford University in California in 1987-88 and was a recipient of the National Book Award from the Manila Critics Circle for her book Mean Streets: Essays on the Knife Edge. She began her career in journalism late in 1971 as a reporter of the pre-martial law Graphic magazine. She was among the pioneers of the Inquirer and was present at the creation in December 1985 before leaving for other posts in 1987. She returned to it in 1991 after serving as opinion editor of the Manila Standard and editor of the Sunday Times Magazine.
