About the Journal
The Social Sciences and Development Review Journal (SSDR) is an open-access university journal of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), under the Research Publications Office of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development. Beginning with its 2025 issue, SSDR is published biannually and features peer-reviewed articles in the social sciences and development studies, preferably those focusing on the Asia-Pacific context. The journal promotes critical, multidisciplinary, and constructive discourses in the social sciences and allied disciplines. Articles that seek to synthesize normative fields such as religious studies, theology, or philosophy with the social sciences are likewise welcome.
Social Sciences and Development Review Journal aims to publish articles from a wide variety of methodological and disciplinary perspectives to serve the interests of a wide range of thoughtful readers, students, and academic scholars of the social sciences and development such as sociologists, anthropologists, historians, economists, psychologists, political scientists, as well as social development and cooperative scholars. It also aims to publish special issues on important and urgent social concerns that affect the local and global society.
