About the Journal
The Social Sciences and Development Review Journal (SSDR) is an open-access university journal of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), under the Research Publications Office of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development. Beginning with its 2025 issue, SSDR is published biannually and features peer-reviewed articles in the social sciences and development studies, preferably those focusing on the Asia-Pacific context. The journal promotes critical, multidisciplinary, and constructive discourses in the social sciences and allied disciplines. Articles that seek to synthesize normative fields such as religious studies, theology, or philosophy with the social sciences are likewise welcome.
Social Sciences and Development Review Journal aims to publish articles from a wide variety of methodological and disciplinary perspectives to serve the interests of a wide range of thoughtful readers, students, and academic scholars of the social sciences and development such as sociologists, anthropologists, historians, economists, psychologists, political scientists, as well as social development and cooperative scholars. It also aims to publish special issues on important and urgent social concerns that affect the local and global society.
The goals of the publication are as follows: (1) maintain confidentiality in managing submitted manuscripts; (2) observe timely publication of the journal; (3) pursue unbiased double blind review system; and (4) ensure that editorial decisions are based on originality, relevance, and quality of a manuscript and its contribution to the body of knowledge in the disciplines that the journal seeks to cultivate.
Publishing Schedule
Articles in this journal are published biannually (every June and December starting with the 2026 issue).
Publication Fee
There are no article processing charges (APC).

Advertising Policy
The strategies and programs of the Research Publications Office include posting of article abstracts on the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, PUP Research and Extension, and SSDR official Facebook pages.
Archiving
The Polytechnic University of the Philippines has established its own Research Journal Repository that serves as an archive of all its University Journals. Also, this journal is included in Philippine E-Journals, an online collection of academic publications of different higher education institutions and professional organizations in the Philippines, to digitally preserve content. This means in the event that a journal stops publishing or goes offline, there will be a way to have continued long-term access to articles and issues.
Authors are also allow to deposit all versions of their manuscript in an institutional or other repository of their choice without embargo.
