Author Biography

  • Dr. Gregorio E. H. Del Pilar, Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Diliman, National Research Council of the Philippines

    DR. GREGORIO E. H. DEL PILAR founded and was the first to head the Personality and Individual Differences Laboratory at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He handled courses in personality traits, personality and ability measurement, and psychological statistics as Professor of Psychology until his retirement in 2020, and as Professorial Lecturer since then. He has been a consultant for major tests of the Civil Service Commission, the Career Executive Service Board, and the Philippine Coast Guard. He is on the Executive Board of the World Association for Personality Psychology, and is a Fellow of the Pambansang Samahan sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino, and the Psychological Association of the Philippines. He is the main author of the Mapa ng Loob, a personality inventory that operationalizes the breakthrough Five-Factor Model of personality traits with Filipino trait constructs. He has held the U. P. Alumni in Wisconsin Diamond Jubilee Professorial Chair, and has been awarded several UP International Publication Awards and UP Centennial and Diamond Jubilee Faculty Grants. Dr. del Pilar was President of the National Research Council of
    the Philippines from 2020-2022. He is a member of the core group of Future Earth Philippines, an interdisciplinary network of researchers and scientists coordinating efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals  and is the Convenor of the NRCP Discussion Group on Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education. He obtained his AB (Psychology) cum laude from UP Diliman, and his doctorate in Differential Psychology from the University of Paris Nanterre.
